On 14 July:
Around 12.30 a.m: Just finish watching the Apprentice (last episode), I felt bb moving alot and so I went to lie down and sleep.
1 a.m: feel a bit sore at my back. Try to find a good position to sleep.
4 a.m: still couldn't sleep properly. feel mensual cramps at the back spine and abit tummy cramp. Sit upright to massage my back.
4.30 a.m: started to wonder if it is contraction. Alert hubby. He ask me if I want to go hospital but I say wait to check on the interval
4.30 a.m - 5 plus: start to time contractions. Contractions seem to come every 5 min. Still did not panic cos last time when I have Jasper, I only gave birth when my contractions comes every 1 min. It was very intense by then. I thought I have time now.
5 something: Pain comes rather intense when contractions kick in. Hubby massage my back. I called gynae. Gynae advise me to go hospital. I bath and pack/ check my bag. Hubby check his video and camera stuff like battery life. Jasper still happily sleeping. I ask maid to watch him.Left pic: me on the way to hospital... see me smiling rgt? I wasn't so cool when Gemma coming out later...
6 something: reach hospital and show admission letter. I was escorted to the observation ward while hubby do the admission. Change to hospital attire and nurse check my cervix. She say "wow this one good! 7 cm already" my neighbour next door only 1 cm. They say my labour will be short and I agree. So from there, I was immed sent to labour ward.
6.30 a.m - 7 a.m: use gas mask. Pain is still every 5 min but I still could cope.
Suddenly I feel more intense pain at the bottom and bearing down. It was unbearable and then I felt water coming out. I knew my water bag had burst. I called for nurse. Nurse check and say still abt 8 cm. Ask me to wait.
From that time onwards, I keep feeling of passing motion. It was scary but nurse guide me to push and then I felt something at the bottom. Nurse say i doing well and then gynae came.
I was extremely uncomfortable by now. The mask didn't work and I was breathing very hard into it. I was crying. Nurse told me not to cry and reserve my energy to push later.
Now I feel like pushing and gynae cautioned me not to push as he worried abt the bb head. I was squeezing her. He called me to breathe in. By now, I was in torture as I feel my legs and bottom tearing and felling apart.
Gynae tell me to relax and then the bb will come out very fast.
7.xx a.m: did many pushes, finally Gemma is out. At the moment, I can actually feel something slippery comes out.... last time I didn't feel that. Heard "congrats it a gal!"
Gemma cry very loudly and was put to my chest. She also pass motion and urine in the labour ward shortly after cleaning up.
Gemma is 48 cm long and 2.845 kg.
